How to become a songwriter?

But first a bit explaining about what you may expect to earn as a pure songwriter. A songwriter is the guy behind the screen, who is writing songs in the quit of his own home. A pure songwriter can count on the royalties that the song (s) he wrote will earn in time.

But,first of all, his songs need to be published . So he need to get a publishing deal for his songs. Or... he can do the publishing himself. Being a publisher doesn't need any special qualifications, so everyone can start a publishing company. You need to know how, of course.

Like I said before, you can learn everything, and becoming a publisher is one of those things.

If you have publishing deal and your song get a record deal, then 50 % of the royalties goes to the publisher. That's One more good reason to start your own publishing company. All the revenues will be split by the songwriter and the music publisher in a 50/50 deal.

Still, a song can get a lot of revenue though from radio and TV airplay but again all the revenue will be split up in a 50/50 deal.

The amount of money you will earn is depending how big your song will be.

Of course, some famous songwriters earning millions of dollars ( Mc Cartney, Sting,Elton John...to name a few) but in fact everyone has the change to grab his piece of the music hit cake. So..."How to become a songwriter" and get signed? That's the question. It's a bit of a lottery, but this lottery you have partly in your own hands ( and head). By doing all things you need to do,and doing them right, you're already going the right direction.

One thing clear: You need to have the Right skill(s).

This in writing words, and writing music or both.

Secondly you need to do three things: Work, Work and Work again.

Work means: Writing songs, develop your guitar,or piano playing,and write more songs. Your songs will get better in time, as you get more qualified, what is normal.

How do you know that you have the talent for songwriting.

by professional music business people. This can cost you, but if you need to be convinced that you have talent or not..That's the way to do it. Isn't it so?

If you have the talent, they will notice, and they will tell you so.

Always remember that success isn't an easy to achieve, and in fact, you have to earn it.

So.. How to become a songwriter?

Only with a lot of rehearsal,and learning, you can developing your skills.

So, work, work, and work again.

The two most important things that you have to develop are:

* Your musical instrument playing

* Your lyric writing.

In time your songwriting will improve and your Guitar/piano playing also. If you have the right talent for songwriting and you'll work really hard, then and only then the opportunity for success will knock on your doorstep.

Why you need to work hard to becoming a songwriter?

The main reason is " Competition". Like it or not, that you have to deal with a lot of others who do their best, just as you will do. Millions of bands, singer-songwriter, and songwriters are playing and rehearsal as their live is depending of it. They all try to do the best they can to achieve the main goal, and that's get signed to a (mayor) record label or to get a publishing deal.

You will have to convince the A& R and publisher of your songwriting talent, by delivering quality and strong songs. It's not an easy task to overcome.
